Our client, a leading insurance company, is seeking a Senior Web Developer with Java/J2EE.

Location: Greenville, SC
Contract Position

Job Description:

Primary Role
  • JAVA/J2EE application development, which includes analysis, design, and coding in support of business requirements.
  • Formulate and document the physical Object Oriented Design based on business requirements and system specifications via use cases and object modelling.
  • Develop Unit Test Plans to ensure compliance with the specifications.
  • Work with the Business Analyst via peer reviews and code inspections to ensure code meets the business and system requirements.
  • Work with other developers to ensure the code interdependencies are met and fully tested via a formal system test plan.

    Secondary Role:
  • Manage the day to day Configuration Management tasks with the internal Internet Services group.
  • Coordinate implementation activities, integration test activities, and manage progression of code releases from development through production.

    Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Architecting and leading the development of the publishing framework and services
  • Guiding integration of users and external systems with the service
  • Designing and implementing quality controls
  • Managing relationship with business groups.

    Technical Environment
  • The primary toolsets and applications used: Kdb+/q, Unix, RMDS, LBM, TIBCO. C/C++, Java

    Essential Technical Skills:
  • Development experience of pub/sub messaging using standard market data frameworks (LBM/RMDS/TIBCO) is essential.
  • Advanced C/C++ skills.
  • Unix, Perl, Shell Scripting.

    Preferable Technical Skills: C, C++, Java, KDB+

    Education/Qualifications: Degree Level or Equivalent

    Background/Work Experience Required:
    The candidate should be able to cope with working in a demanding and at times a stressful environment. He/she should be self-directed in learning and looking for solutions. The candidate should be a team player and possess effective communication skills.

    The roles primary focus is on building a sustainable publishing framework around the existing KDB+ technologies. As such experience with Market Data publication in one or more of the mentioned technologies is a must. KDB+ skills are a distinct advantage but not a requirement.

    Expert knowledge of Real Time market data & analytics is essential.
    Experience in an investment bank, hedge fund or innovative technology firm.
    Proven Enterprise Architecture & Design skills
    Background in Equities, FX, Fixed Income and Commodities markets is also a distinct advantage.
